Testing Information for 2025-2026 Applicants

Testing information is available at studentrecs.bergen.org.
To find out your date and time of testing, go to the studentrecs.bergen.org site. Log in using your personal email address (the one you entered in your application) and the password (case sensitive) that was emailed to you after the application was approved.
If you do not remember your username, click “Forgot Username?”. If you do not remember your password, click “Forgot Password?”. The information will be sent to the personal email address of the applicant.
NOTE that NO emails, letters or testing information will be sent to the applicant. Applicants must check the site to know the test date and status of their application.
Testing is on Chromebooks provided by us.
Students who have 504s or IEPs and need accommodations for testing must contact their counselors/ case managers as soon as possible.

While you are logged into the studentrecs.bergen.org portal, please confirm the names and email addresses for your guidance counselor and teachers who will be writing your recommendations. It is imperative that you verify this information NOW as it will not be available to you after the test has been administered.
WE EXPECT ALL APPLICANTS TO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THEIR SCHEDULED TEST DATE & TIME. If you are unable to test due to illness or for an unforeseen emergency, you must email Admissions@bergen.org on Monday, November 24, 2025, and provide documentation/doctor’s note for verification. We will provide you with the make-up test date.

The Bergen County Academies (BCA), is a free public Career & Technical Education High School of choice for Bergen County residents located in Hackensack, New Jersey. The school offers seven specialized programs in the areas of Science & Technology, Business & Finance, Culinary Arts & Hospitality Administration, Engineering & Design Technology, Medical Science Technology, Technology & Computer Science and Visual & Performing Arts.
Please be aware that Bergen County Academies offers an academically rigorous curriculum along with a wide range of unique opportunities that are seldom found in other schools. Given our highly competitive acceptance rate, we seek families who are fully committed to our Extended School Day and the comprehensive educational experience we provide.
If your child has substantial extracurricular obligations or a demanding schedule outside of school, particularly if those obligations conflict with BCA’s Extended School Day, we encourage you to thoughtfully consider whether our program is the right fit. BCA is designed for students who are ready to fully engage in the academic and enrichment aspects of our school for the entire extended school day.

The Academy for Science and Technology is designed for students with a passion for science and a curiosity to explore real-world scientific challenges. Through a comprehensive, hands-on curriculum, students investigate modern scientific questions and develop the skills needed to thrive in today’s fast-paced STEM environment. The program addresses critical 21st-century topics such as sustainability, materials science, and energy. Students are encouraged to think critically, experiment creatively, and apply their knowledge to solve complex problems.

The Academy for Business & Finance offers students a comprehensive program centered around core business and financial principles. Through high-level, integrated courses, students gain a strong foundation in areas such as corporate finance, financial markets, banking, economics, marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. The curriculum is develops analytical thinking, strategic decision-making, and an understanding of the global economy preparing students for success in business-related college programs and careers in finance, management, and beyond.

The Academy for Culinary Arts & Hospitality Administration offers students an in-depth exploration of one of the world’s largest and most dynamic industries. The program combines advanced instruction in culinary and pastry arts with comprehensive coursework in hospitality management and entrepreneurship.
Designed for students passionate about hospitality, this academy provides the skills, knowledge, and real-world insight needed to succeed in culinary professions, hotel and restaurant management, event planning, and other hospitality-related careers.

The Academy for Medical Science Technology offers a rigorous program of study for students interested in the medical field and biomedical research. The curriculum is enriched with specialized courses such as anatomy, pharmacology, developmental biology, bioethics, and research science. Through hands-on projects and collaborative learning, students also develop essential skills in teamwork, communication, and presentation—preparing them for success in college and future careers in medicine, healthcare, and research.
AVPA - Music

Students in the Academy for Visual & Performing Arts Music program pursue a rigorous, honors-level college preparatory curriculum with a concentrated focus in music. Designed for students who demonstrate a unique combination of musical talent, passion, and dedication, the program encourages full immersion in musical study and performance. Music take part in ensembles, performances, and creative projects that enrich their musical experience. Admission to the program requires both the standard BCA application process and a successful music audition.
AVPA - Visual

The Academy for Visual & Performing Arts (AVPA) – Visual Arts concentration offers students a comprehensive education in both traditional and digital art forms, with a strong emphasis on digital media. This program is ideal for students interested in pursuing college majors or careers in fields such as: Graphic & Web Design, Illustration, Photography, Film, Animation & Video, Game Design and Package Design. Students gain hands-on experience in a variety of media while developing essential creative and critical thinking skills.

The Academy for Engineering and Design Technology offers students a focused, interdisciplinary education in the engineering sciences. With concentrations in areas such as design technology, computer science, manufacturing, and electronics, the program provides a strong foundation for students interested in pursuing engineering or technology-related fields. Students engage in a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes problem-solving, innovation, and technical skill development—tools essential for success in any college-level engineering program or STEM career path.

Students in the Academy for Technology and Computer Science gain a strong foundation in core areas of computer science, including programming, computer architecture, software engineering, data structures and algorithms, web development, theory of computation, and program analysis. Advanced coursework includes processor design, computer security, game development, and artificial intelligence, equipping students with the problem-solving skills essential for success in college computer science programs and the tech industry.
AVPA - Theatre

Students in the Academy for Visual & Performing Arts Theatre concentration are rigorously prepared to audition for college and conservatory Theatre Arts programs, including both BA and BFA tracks. More importantly, the program equips students with a versatile skill set—communication, collaboration, creativity, and confidence—preparing them for success in virtually any college major or 21st-century career path.
