Career Crossroads is a shared time vocational program, offering students the opportunity to explore and prepare for careers in Sales/Customer Service and Hospitality/Food Service. A focus of Career Crossroads is preparing students to acquire independence and the “soft skills” required for workplace success: communication, enthusiasm and attitude, teamwork, networking, problem-solving/critical thinking, and professionalism. 
 
We offer two program options: a morning-based an 18-21 program with optional job coaching and an afternoon-based shared-time program for high school students. During their time in the program, students learn how to prepare foods in our industrial kitchen and food service and safety. The morning Crossroads group runs a grab-and-go breakfast service in the Bergen Bistro on Thursdays, where staff and students on the Paramus campus can purchase made-to-order breakfast sandwiches along with a variety of breakfast goods and coffee. The afternoon Crossroads group prepares baked goods to sell.

Students also have the unique opportunity to work on their customer services skills in the Crossroads Corner Store, located on the Paramus campus. Students make craft items and prepare them for sale in the store and during pop-up shops in the BCSS Central Office. This allows for practice in managing a retail store as well as hands-on experience in marketing, merchandising, inventory, and customer service.
 
In addition to our on-campus opportunities, students in both options are involved in community-based learning experiences to purchase groceries and sale items, visit various potential job sites, and engage in supported group internships at various locations including cafeterias and retail sites.
